Casino Destinations in South-East Asia

Gambling is a rather popular activity in most parts of the world. In Asia, even more so, with gambling destinations like Macau. Most people would think Las Vegas as the go-to gambling destination, but because of South-East Asia’s booming and expanding economy, gambling has seen a rise in popularity.

That being said, here are some destinations in South-East Asia, where you can go if you wanna try your luck at their casinos.

This autonomous region of China has been given the titles of “The Las Vegas of South-East Asia” or “The Monte Carlo of the Orient,” and with good reason. Macau is famous for its casinos and large gambling scene. The activity has been legal since the times when Macau was a Portuguese colony. There are 35 casinos in Macau, but the grandest and famous ones would be the Grand Lisboa, Sands Macau, Venetian Macau, MGM Grand Macau, and the Grand Waldo Casino.

Malaysia: Resorts World in Genting Highlands.

Up in the misty mountains of Genting, within the grounds of the mountain resort, lies the only casino in Malaysia. While Gambling licenses are offered in the country, they are very hard to obtain, and there have been many arrests and raids on illegal gambling venues. But, one place has managed to obtain a license, and that is Resorts World Genting.

It opened its doors in the 1970s and has grown to become a very popular spot for gamblers to visit, you can head up there via car or cable-car. This casino is truly unique, being the only one in Malaysia and being situated at 1,800 meters above sea level.

While you can gamble here, the law is slightly different from that of other countries when it comes to gambling. For example, you will need to pay a levy if you want to enter a casino, the levy is around 100 to 200 dollars. You should also have your valid ID on you at all times if you plan on visiting. The money collected usually goes to public services and to charity. If you want to avoid the levy, you can always visit this online casino in Malaysia

That being said, the most famous casinos in Singapore would either be in Marina Bay Sands or Resorts World Sentosa.

The casino in Marina Bay Sands is loaded with 1,600 slot machines and 500 gaming tables and located next to a beach. On its opening back in 2010, it was given the name of the most expensive standalone casino. The casino is within the vicinity of many other features in Marina Bay Sands, like exquisite restaurants and the famous Sky Park.

The casino in Resorts World Sentosa is often regarded as the most sophisticated, the fanciest. It is located in the Crockfords Tower hotel, situated on Sentosa Island. The casino offers visitors the most advanced in gambling technology.

The gambling and casino scene in the Philippines is growing. In the country, there are around 65 casinos. Of those casinos, the larger ones would be the  Belle Grande, Manila Bay Resorts, Resorts World Manila and Solaire Manila by Bloomberry Hotels and Resorts. Due to the Chinese government tightening the rules of gambling, people of the gambling capital of Asia, Macau, have even gone all the way to the Philippines to place their bets! So expect to see a surge in casinos in the Philippines.

And those were some gambling destinations on South-East Asia that you can book a trip too if you plan on visiting them, but remember to gamble responsibly and seek help if you feel like you are suffering from gambling addiction.
